Ham radio club uses local media
Southgate Amateur Radio Club
The Halton Radio Club near Runcorn registered on the Newsquest website for their local newspaper. They were then able to set up a recurring event for their club meetings.

Russ Roberts‘s insight:

Here’s another great idea on publicizing your club activities.  Although "Newsquest" applies largely to club activities in the UK, the principles involved could apply to your local newspaper, radio station, television station, or cable provider.  Make contact with the news or public service departments of these media and offer to submit club activities and special events on a timely, recurring basis.  If you club doesn’t have a website or blog, start one.  You can get a free blog from a variety of providers, including WordPress, Blogger, or Live Journal.  Every bit of publicity helps.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
