Well-written article by reporter Kristina Smith on the activities of the Ottawa County (Ohio) Amateur Radio Emergency Service.  ARES members in this part of Ohio act as severe weather spotters for the SKYWARN program–"a national volunteer system of people who report severe weather conditions to the National Weather Service."  This is an excellent example of how amateur radio operators serve their communities.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
