This Week in Radio History

Tesla granted patent 454,622: coupled tuned circuit radio-frequency oscillator.

June 24, 1910
Public Law 262, titled “Act to require apparatus and operators for radio communication on certain ocean steamers,” requires Commerce Dept. to license radio operators for ocean-going ships.

Two new additions to David Hall’s "This Week in Radio History."  Tesla was a true genius in so many fields, including the development of AC (Edison preferred DC circuits for power) and this entry for "a coupled tuned circuit radio-frequency oscillator." Perhaps, the real inventor of radio was Tesla afterall.  And then there is Public Law 262 which began the process of licensing for ship board operators.  As the old saying goes, "the rest is history."
