The 247,000 licensed amateur radio operators in Thailand are getting some spectrum relief, a little more power output, and an easing of getting basic amateur radio equipment into the country.  Under the new regulations issued by Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), the two meter band has been expanded to 146.5 MH; advanced class license holders will be allowed to boost power to 1,000 watts; entry class operators will be able to use 60 watts output in the 144 MHz band and 100 watts in the 28 MHz band; and additional spectrum in the 160 meter and 80 meter bands will be released.  Intermediate and advanced class licenses still require the passing of an 8-word per minute morse code test.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
