An Engineer’s Field Day – EE Times

An Engineer’s Field Day
EE Times
The essential items for a ham station are a radio transceiver, a microphone, an antenna, a feed-line to connect the radio to the antenna, and some way to power the radio and any accessories.

A nice tribute to the 2014 ARRL Field Day from Electronics Engineer Elizabeth Simon.  As engineers, her amateur radio associates well highly organized and committed to alternative power sources for their stations.  During the day, her club used solar panels and deep cycle batteries. At night, the engineers used hydrogen fuel cells.  The attached photos are interesting.  This club serves as an inspiration to me, although I think fuel cells are beyond my budget….nice idea, anyway.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
