Nice story from WECT TV-6 reporter Ben Powell on the activities of The Brunswick Amateur Radio Emergency Services (RACES). On Saturday, radio club members sponsonsord an "Awareness Day" in Bolivia, North Carolina to spread the word that "good communications can be the difference when it comes to dealing with emergency situations."  Club members also demonstated equipment and explained how amateur radio is a vital communications link between hospitals, emergency shelters, and other infrastructure facilities during times of emergency.  The club also announced the beginning of a Technician Class Amateur Radio License Class, beginning 13 September 2014.  For details, call 910-253-5383.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
