Tony’s 10 Metre Band Report

Tony’s 10 Metre Band Report.

———————————–

Tony (G4CJC) has done another outstanding job of putting 10 meters in the Amateur Radio spotlight.  His report is thorough, easy to read, and most fascinating.  According to Tony, the week’s top DX draw was the K1N Navassa Island operation.  Other tasty DX catches included E41MT (Palestine), VU2CPL (India), JW9JKA (Svalbard), 9K54NLD (Kuwait), and EH5ANT (Spain).

Bouvet Island

Mark Demeuleneere, ON4WW, has been granted permission by the Norwegian Polar Institute to land and reside on Bouvet Island during the mid-January until mid-April 2016 time frame.

This will be a ham radio DXpedition with the sole purpose of providing

worldwide contacts with Bouvet Island, currently ranked #3 on the different DXCC Most Wanted Lists.

This will be a 3 month DXpedition carried out by one person with a target to make 100,000 QSOs on CW, SSB and RTTY on all HF bands. (Note: Bouvet will move up to #2 after Navassa has been activated in 2015).

Whether or not this DXpedition will take place depends on the next big

hurdle, funding. An interesting Web page has been designed which provides more background information and full details with some great pictures, as well as details on his funding approach at:

http://www.on4ww.be/bouvet2016.html

In regard to Bouvet, contact ON4WW via the following E-mail address:

The DXpedition to remote Bouvet Island is planned for the mid-January to mid-April 2016 time frame.  Currently, Bouvet Island is ranked #3 on the most sought after DX list.  The main problem is funding.  For details on the Bouvet operation, visit:  http://www.on4ww.be/bouvet2016.html.

There are some excellent DX possibilities in this current IOTA report.  Among them are AF-019 (Lampedusa Island); AS-166 (Kish Island, Islamic Republic of Iran–tentative callsign is EP6T); EU-047 (Pellworn Island).  The Iran operation should be interesting if all the pieces fall into place.
