Another broadcaster to end AM transmissions | Southgate Amateur Radio News.

German telecommunications authorities say several medium and longwave AM broadcast stations will be closed over the next year. Stations on 153 kHz, 177 kHz, and 207 kHz will shut down on 31 December 2014. Six more AM stations will turn off their transmitters on 31 December 2015.

The UK Amateur Radio television program, “TX Factor”, episode 4 will be aired on Friday, 25 July 2014, at 00.01 British Standard Time (BST). The 39th International ‘Ham Radio’ exhibition, gets underway on Friday 27 June in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance in southern Germany.

Thousands of amateur radio operators and electronics enthusiasts will gather at the Messe Friedrichshafen Conventional Hall on the shores of Lake Constance in Southern Germany for the 39th Annual International Ham Radio exhibition.  The event runs from Friday, 27 June through Sunday, 29 June.  The Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC) has chosen “Creative Amateur Radio–Build it yourself” as the theme of the conference.  Friedrichshafen has often been called the European version of the “Dayton Hamvention” in the United States.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).

A nice, fact-filled article from “The Bristol Press” about the ARRL Centennial Celebration to be held in Newington, Connecticut from 17-20 July 2014.  Visitors from 34 countries are expected to tour ARRL Headquarters and spend time at  the 2-day “flea market” and equipment displays in the Convention Center.  The event also features forums, workshops, and guest speakers.  The Centennial Banquet is set for Friday evening (18 July 2014), with FEMA administrator Craig Fulgate as the guest speaker.  Also, there will be testing for those seeking an amateur radio license.  For details, call ARRL at (860)-594-0200.  Aloha de Russ (KH6JRM).
